Sounds cool. But tell me, how you managed to use LMMS 1.0.0. Don't if it's just me, but I already tried to use that, and for me the UI is partially f***ed up (things like some faders placed with an offset, the piano roll editor having no background resulting in a totally glitched window as soon as you move the cursor above it). I would report these bugs if I could, but I have no clue how to contact the developers.

Jernemies responds:

That happens when you use 0.4.15 With 1.0.0 theme - either that or the old version's conflicting with the new one. Make sure you're using the right version with the right theme. If you are, uninstall both versions and reinstall 1.0.0. Either way, it's solely a theme thing, because the update breaks theme compatibility both ways

I like that ambience of this song. Cannot describe it. Like it.

Indeed, the song is actually kinda nice. To be honest, the empty spaces between the noises at the beginning could be filled with something, may it be a long reverb on the noises or some kind of background noise like a soft pad synth or at least some kind of wind/seashore/ambient noise or whatever. At least it would make it not sounding too empty.

Aaroca responds:

I'm not participating in the creation of music anymore, but thanks for the review.
True, in hindsight, filling those spaces with some kind of worldly ambience would have been the better move, but I have no plans to return to musical composition.
I mean, this thing is four years old.
Thanks for the review though.

Also, your stuff is badass. I look forward to more, K-pone.

There's one thing on this song which is really annoying to me. Whenever the kick drum is played, this forces the limiter to 'overlimit' all the rest. On normal speakers you might not notice it that hard, but since I'm using headphones most of the time to listen to music, this is really awful in my opinion. Anyway, I like the rest of the song!

Geoplex responds:

Yeah, just noticed I uploaded the wrong mix. Fixing :P

Kinda like this experiment. Somehow it reminds me of a remix tune from remix.kwed.org. The one I mean is the remix of Trick Bag by Mordi and DJ Skitz. If you'd like to listen to that, it can be found here: http://remix.kwed.org/?search_id=4839
(remove spaces, if newgrounds is still putting them in there automatically)
It's the acoustic piano at the beginning that reminds me to that.

HAHA WOW

Yes I was TOTALLY inspired by this. In fact, I had initially listened to it a lot years ago, but then stopped and in fact I totally forgot the name of the song! Now that you point out it's a Trick Bag remix I found the one that initially resonated with me:

Such a beautiful song... Dafunk (the guy who made it) is just amazing.

In fact one of the main reasons I switched up the chord progression in the second part is that It was feeling a little too samey to that song. Also, I couldn't write anything nearly as good as the main melody line in that piece, which is adsfjbeautiful.

Anyway thanks for the review and blast from the past :D

Well, to be honest it sounds rather 90's than 80's to me. The melodies and such sound quite like the good old 80's, but things like sidechaining and whatever this is called normally what Gross Beat in FL Studio and Beat Grid in VirtualDJ.

But hey, I like it! And don't feel bad for posting so many songs. If they're good, why not? Your songs are obviously no spam like other people's songs I've seen sometimes on the audio portal (but these people also spammed about 15-25 songs to the portal at a time).

Haha yeah fair point! I was using dblue glitch for the glitching stuff.

> And don't feel bad for posting so many songs

Haha okay then LET THE SPAM COMMENCE!!!

Sounds cool. Dunno if that's intended, but the PWM Lead in the second half sounds a bit like it's too far behind the other instruments, but I like it!

kirja100 responds:

Thanks!

Sounds quite a bit 90's-like. Cool!

Awesome. Sounds quite a bit better than the original in my opinion. You should link to original song in the project's settings as well.

That's indeed an interesting result of a christmas song transformed into a minor key. By the way I know the German version (Stille Nacht) as well ;)

RyeGuyHead responds:

Interesting is one way to describe it ;)
